Google just turned 25 - and it's been a remarkable journey. I came across a thought-provoking l write-up from it's CEO - Sundar Pichai, titled - Questions, Shrugs and what comes next:

In Coaching aspiring leaders, I strive to use thoughtful inquiry to help stimulate learnings, ideas and insights. Good coaches focus on asking the right questions to help individuals solve problems. They know how to listen carefully to the individual's responses, and to ask follow-up questions that will help the individual to think more deeply about the problem and to come up with effective solutions.

Another passion of mine is teaching - primarily because I've found it's the best way to learn about new concepts. I enjoy using the Socratic Method to teach, as it's also driven by thoughtful inquiry.

As I read through Sundar's article, I was reminded that so many innovative companies create products & services start with questions? Open ended, provocative, action-oriented - reflective questions? Google certainly did so.

- Could we offer 1 GB of storage to every person?

- Could we build a browser that made the web better, with simplicity, speed, and security at its core?

- What if Google Maps enabled people to see every street in the world in detail?

- What if we built a translation tool that allowed people to access information, and communicate in multiple languages?

- What if you could search and find all your old photos by simply describing what you wanted to see?

These questions resulted in the creation of wonderful products, used by millions of people, every day.

Chat Bots like Chat GPT and Google Bard - enable anyone to use natural language queries or Prompts, to readily gain knowledge and insights from vast data sets in Large Language Models. Often, an effective prompt starts with thoughtful inquiry. Generative A.I amplifies the power of thoughtful questions, through prompts.

I grew up in Nigeria, seeing first-hand the great opportunities and challenges faced by developing countries. Although I've spent much of my life in North America, I've stayed close to my roots.

For me, one of the key benefits of Generative A.I is how it helps democratizes the proliferation of knowledge, allowing individuals to harness the Power of Questions in new ways. Millions of people in the developing world, will now have the ability to learn, grow and accomplish more than we ever thought possible.
